Hi, my name is Randi Parks. I'm a rising sophomore at Oglethorpe, and I live in Traer Hall. Fun fact about Traer, it's the closest to the dining halls and all the classrooms.
Welcome to my room in Traer!
Alrighty, so we walk right in, and you see two big closets. Right now, I'm using that one for storage, but this one is mine. As you already see plenty of space for all your clothes, shoes, anything extra that you bring from home,. I brought this shoe rack and it just went over the door and it fit perfectly. Same thing with my bag rack. And there are also additional hooks inside of the closet where you can but anything else you need to hang up, but tons of space up top and the bottom. It's been a really nice to use who have a lot of clothes. And so moving into the bedroom area of Traer. So each room has two beds as well as two desks for the students. I currently don't have a roommate, so I turned this desk into a kitchenette area. I also brought my microwave and mini fridge and keurig, so that I can eat my room if I need to, and also just make coffee and tea in my room, if need be. But the cafe also has coffee and tea as well as plenty of food in the dining hall. I also turn this extra bed into a kind of like lounge, couch area, since I don't have a roommate. And this is kind of my friends that I hang out. So we don't have to crowd onto my bed. But we watch movies in here. We play we're not really strangers in here, types of games. It's always a good time in Traer. It's also really cozy in here. So it's kind of the spot for us this semester. And this is my bed I kind of decorated with some decorative pillows, tapestry, and also brought some pictures from home of course from high school.
Moving over here-- This my desk area. Overall in Traer, there's a lot of space. And so what I didn't mention about my bed, I have a ton of space underneath. So I have extra clothes, my trunk, anything that just doesn't have a space can just fit nicely under there. On my desk, I have books for classes, I have my calendar and also a lamp and a diffuser. But I spent a lot of time here when I'm not in class to great depths. We also have a lot of storage underneath the desk as well. So extra pencils, calculators can go right in there. And then over here is the drawer area. This is where I keep like my folded shirts and everything. Typically there, I would split it with my roommate, but since I don't at the moment, I'm kind of just using this side. But this is where I keep food, paper towels, napkins, utensils, my plates and everything. But this is also another great storage space and trailer. And then we can head to the bathroom. So Traer's bathrooms are huge. We have a lot of counter space and a ton of storage. In our bathroom, we have two sinks and typically my roommate and I would be sharing this bathroom with two suitemates, which would live right through that door, so we'd all share a bathroom together. And the bathroom area overall is just very spacious. You can do a lot in here. Since I don't have suitemates or roommates at the moment, I'm using the other sink is kind of where I do my dishes and everything. Additionally, one thing I really loved about Traer is that we have a tub for our shower, which is different than some of the other dorms which I really appreciate. And you know I have friends who like take bubble baths from time to time to just de-stress but this is where I live in Traer. So this is the first floor common room. Traer has three floors, and there's a common room on each floor. In the first floor common room, we have the vending machines, a TV, there's also a bathroom, and to quickly introduce a Ahmeen. He's our second floor RA, he's a senior at Oglethorpe.
Hi!
Ahmeen really great super great resource for anything that you need on campus. That's what we really appreciate our Traer RA's for. But the first floor common room is typically where most of the hall events are held. The second floor common room has like desks and chairs, so a lot of what to study up there, and same thing with the third floor common room. And actually if you take a look outside, you can actually see how close we are to the dining hall in the Student Center. It's really just a really short walk right down there like less than five minutes, but the first floor common room is where all the action happens in Traer.
