OU Residence Hall Tour: Jobe Hansen
Hi, everyone, my name is Hannah Womersley. I am a sophomore here at Oglethorpe University. I'm an out of state student from Central Florida and I'm a Communications major and English minor. This year I'm living on campus at Jobe Hansen.
Hi guys. So first we're gonna start off on the common room in Jobe. Come in here. So we have this awesome common area on the fourth floor, for all people in Jobe to hang out at. We have tables, chairs everywhere. They're really great hangout spots, study spots, really anything once. So just what if you want to have a bigger group of people that you have in your dorm, it can accommodate that in here. We have a TV over on this side, if you want to watch TV, watch movies, bring in gaming console to hook up and play with friends. Really, the opportunities are endless in here. We have beautiful views of different parts of the campus. Very light and bright as you can see. Overall, just a really great hangout spot. And this is on the fourth floor of Jobe, and it's free for anyone in Jobe to use.
Hi everyone, welcome back to my room in Jobe. So Jobe is a really great dorm on campus. It is apartment style, meaning everyone gets their own room, and two people share a bathroom. We have our kitchenette over here. None of the other dorms other than Bowden Magbee have the kitchenette. So we have our sink, the fridge that my roommates brought, and lots of cabinets for different storage. On this side is my roommate size. So again, as you can see, there's two rooms. They each have their own room and they share a bathroom. On the side we have our dining rooms. So this dining set is provided by Oglethorpe, the chairs and the table. Great for eating, just hanging out doing homework out here. And then on this side we have our common room. So the couch, coffee table, and the chairs in that corner are all provided by Oglethorpe. The TV and TV stand were brought by myself and my roommates. And this is just a really awesome spot to hang out. Lots of Netflix watching happens in here. We have some tapestries hanging up just a little bit of decor. And you can see outside, we have a beautiful view of the back of campus in the wooded area. Kind of makes it feel like we're in a tree house is really cool. So if we want to head down this way to the bathroom. So as of right now, I do not have a second person sharing my bathroom, which is a little bit out of normal, but we have two sinks. So usually, each person gets their own sink, plenty of storage at the bottom. We have a shower, a toilet, and all of that is completely closed off. So if you want to close that door, it's great. I actually love the shower here. My highlight of my day is taking a hot shower in here. So it's just really awesome space to get ready, very private as well. Yeah, so if we want to head over to the room. Again, like I said, usually there is another person in this room. There's not right now, so I'm very lucky to have my own bathroom, but that is abnormal. Usually there is another person sharing with you. But this is my room. So first we opened up to the closet. As you can see there's tons of storage. I have my own little organization down here for all my sweaters. So they aren't taking up a lot of space. So I have a lot of storage at the top, and plenty of room to hang all of my clothes. If we want to come over to this side, here we have my desk. It's a really great study spot, very quiet. I get a lot of work done in here. The desk, and the desk chair, and this bookshelf, and the dresser are all provided by Oglethorpe. So this bookshelf I used to have a lot of my school books in, so I have that available right there if I need it during class.
Again, this dresser is perfect it serves all of my clothes, very deep, very wide. I love it. I have my bedside table, nice and tall. I got on Amazon for pretty cheap, so perfect for these big beds. But they're very comfortable. I have my mattress topper. All of that very cozy. My room is honestly one of my favorite spots. It's just my sanctuary. Lots of decor up on the walls. I have my Disney pins and different pictures of family to keep-- to just remind me of them. On the side, I have my personal bookshelf with all of my fun books. Like to keep all of those here. I have an anchor an Alpha Sigma Tau flag. On campus, I'm a member of Greek life and Alpha Sigma Tau and our symbol is the anchor. So I have that here. I have my echo dot, my TV and my switch. So lots of my entertainment side is over here. And I also have my own mini fridge in here with all of my different snacks. I also keep my calendar and a rack for my keys and mass over there. But yeah, that's really In my room. I absolutely love Jobe. Some other great things about job are we have a common room up on the fourth floor to hang out. And there's also laundry on every floor. And there's also a full kitchen on the bottom floor that are free for all students to use. So really just a full package in here. I absolutely love living in Jobe. I would definitely recommend it for anyone that wants to live on campus. So thank you so much for letting me show you my room, and I hope you guys have a great day.
