Student representatives discuss all aspects of Greek life at Oglethorpe University!
Greek Life at OU
Greek life on campus is very different than you would expect at a larger state school. We have five sororities in total, and we have four fraternities here. We have social and non-social Greek organizations, but we also have medical fraternities. We have leadership fraternities. Getting involved in Greek life is not as hard as people think it is. You can be any major you can be any religion, any ethnicity, and you can be involved. They're not clicky. You can join anything and still find your group of sisters or brothers that you want to feel like it's home to you. There's plenty of events throughout the semester that are Greek students host-- Inside the campus center, inside the library, and other places for people to get the chance to meet the Greeks or also just hang out with the Greeks. Most organizations, if not all of our Greek organizations, have study hour requirements, and have GPA requirements. So they push you harder to make sure you are meeting your academic goals. Greek life is good for having leadership positions. It's good for having a support system. It's good for building a sense of community and broadening your horizons with not only current Oglethorpe students but alums.
