Get involved! We’ve all been told to do this, but why is getting involved so important? College is a time to discover your passions and find your people. Oglethorpe’s 60+ student clubs and organizations range from cultural to interest-based to religious to academic. We all deserve to be a part of a community that pushes us to reach our goals, and to have fun while doing it.
Clubs, Activities, & SGA
The easiest way to get involved or to feel welcome is by getting involved in a club or organization. We have over 60 clubs and organizations. We have a lot of options here at Oglethorpe. We have religious clubs. We have cultural clubs. We do have quite a few honors and academic clubs. Each major actually does have like an honor society or an honors organization. It gets you closely connected to your professors and like, very much deeply involved in your academics. Literally anything that you could possibly think of to want to do on campus to meet other people, you can. But even if there isn't something that you want, you can just start your own clubs. So the possibilities are literally endless. When I first got here, I jumped into everything. Like I tried a bit of every club that I could, and it showed how much was available here. And it was very easy to choose where I wanted to stay. Starting freshman year in SGA was a great experience for me. I had a lot of fun working with other students on campus, making activities, and doing some great initiatives. I think one of the biggest thing I learned is that students should get involved when they're on campus, because often you'll find people who have common interests with you or you'll find someone that can push you forward in your goals and aspirations. Not only will overboard make an avenue for it, but the community here to students to teachers will also enable you to have fun with it as well.
